Administrative Law

Administrative law creates agencies with specific powers authorized by the legislative representatives of the people to accomplish most governmental work. Agencies are intended to allow professionals to be judged by fellow professionals and also to help alleviate the burdens on, and backlogs of, the courts. The rules and regulations that apply to these agencies are different than the rules that apply in regular court proceedings. The sole purpose and duty of administrative agencies are to protect the public from any harm as a result of a licensee’s actions or omissions. Over 300,000 residents of the State of Iowa hold licenses of all types, issued by a wide variety of state agencies. Licensees comprise approximately 20% of the entire work force of the State.

Contracts

Contracts affect virtually every social arrangement and connection in our daily lives. Oral contracts are involved in almost all of our routine activities and often become the subject of misunderstandings and disagreements that require careful analysis to protect the interests of those involved. Written contracts affect most aspects of the important transactions in our lives and also require careful analysis and interpretation, to be certain that the interests of those involved are completely protected or advanced.

Experienced attorneys assist people and entities to understand the impact of the consequences of contractual relationships required in most private, business, and social relationships.

Personal Injury Cases

Personal injuries occur in the daily lives of most people. They occur anywhere at any time, sometimes due to the negligence of manufacturers or due to personal errors in judgment. Injuries also occur in and around the workplace. These injuries can become workers’ compensation cases that require careful analysis, either for the employer or the employee, as well as knowledgeable review and understanding of the multiple medical aspects. Effective and knowledgeable representation is required to assist all of the people and entities involved, either directly or indirectly, when physical or mental personal injuries occur.

Wills, Conservatorships, Guardianships, Trusts, and Estates

Wills, conservatorships, guardianships, trusts, and estates are legal relationships that require careful and focused legal assistance to help those involved in these complex legal proceedings. Everyone should have a current will, otherwise the rules within the Iowa Code determine what will become of a person or business’s property upon death. Special arrangements such as trusts, conservatorships, or guardianships are sometimes required to carry out the instructions in a complex will, or when special needs arise with children, disabled, or elderly beneficiaries.
